Packing was stressful and no fun but we were ready in good time. Our friend Judith drove us to the bus terminal in Augsburg to catch the shuttle to Munich. We found a notice telling us the Sunday service had been cancelled for the winter season......
Judith had to drive us to Munich where we consequently arrived an hour too soon to check in. Our flight to London was delayed by thirty minutes, so we had plenty of time to stand in awe before an unbelievably beautiful sun setting over the airport.
Once in London we had to rush to catch our British Airways connection to Johannesburg. No-one in South Africa says, 'Johannesburg', it is uncool. From now on I shall write, 'Jo'burg', which apparently is cool.
I was very hot and sweaty and irritated by the time we boarded. The aircraft, a Boeing 747-400 was packed full and cramped, and the air was bad, so I stayed hot and sweaty.
